Women’s Business Conference September 2016

A great team effort transformed the Abbey hotel, Malvern into a vibrant & buzzing room full of inspired and inspiring women (& one man – ‘brave Dave’!)

After a fun icebreaking activity, delegates settled down to hear the remarkable life story of Debbie Gittoes, MD of Arctic Circle.  Debbie accredits her success to resilience, innovation and by fostering an ethos of ‘being all you can be’.   Cherry Blumberg, newly appointed MD of Orchard Valley Foods, told us how she has grown in confidence since learning to remove ‘the imposter from the room’.  Emma Chetwynd-Davies, from Rock Power Connections shared her insights into working in a highly dominated male sector.  Emma is very pleased to see that more women are accepting the opportunities to join the energy industry.  Our final speaker was Sue Riches who gave a humorous account of her expedition to the Arctic with her daughter and an all-female team.   You couldn’t help but be impressed by her cool (pardon the pun), pragmatic, can-do attitude.

Additionally, the event raised almost £400 for St Richard’s Hospice, which was gratefully received by Rachel Jones.
